Classic Cinnamon Rolls & Vegan Cinnamon Rolls

    Recipe 1: Classic Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Frosting:

  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt
Instructions:

Warm the milk in a saucepan over low heat until it reaches around 110°F. Sprinkle the yeast over the warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Add in the flour and salt, stirring until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.

Roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

Starting at the long edge, roll the dough into a log shape. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.

Place the slices in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the rolls are lightly golden.

While the rolls are baking, make the frosting. Beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

Once the rolls are done, let them cool for a few minutes before spreading the frosting on top. Serve warm.

For the Icing:

1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
