Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract




Instructions:


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and espresso powder (if using).
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, warm water, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
